User Experience of a Bespoke Videoconferencing System for Web-Based Family Visitation for Patients in an Intensive Care Unit: 1-Year Cross-Sectional Survey of Nursing Staff

In recent years, many intensive care departments have adopted a patient- and family-centered care approach. This includes having close family members physically present at the bedside during day-to-day activities and attending care meetings. Previous studies have highlighted the psychological and physical benefits of this approach for patients and their families during an individual’s inpatient stay in intensive care [1-3].

A Primary Care Group Resilience Intervention Promotes Child and Caregiver Behavioral Health

Since adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) including child maltreatment, family violence, parental substance abuse, and parental mental illness may increase health and behavioral risks [1,2], further research into preventive early childhood interventions, before the onset of ACE-associated sequelae is required [3]. The Resilience Clinic (RC) [4] is a primary care-based group psychoeducational intervention promoting resilience among children exposed to significant adversity.

Influence of Partnership Relationships on Long-Term Neurological Rehabilitation in Germany: Protocol for a Qualitative Retrospective Study

Influence of Partnership Relationships on Long-Term Neurological Rehabilitation in Germany: Protocol for a Qualitative Retrospective Study

Changes caused by a sudden loss of independence and the need for assistance due to a family member’s illness impact power dynamics, role distributions, tasks, and decision-making between patients and their relatives. On the one hand, relatives provide their resources while on the other hand, they need help themselves. Within the framework of the existing family system, relatives thus have to face new challenges [9,12].

AD/ADRD generally progresses slowly; however, as disease symptomology worsens, most people living with AD/ADRD require support from informal caregivers (ie, unpaid family or friends) [1-5]. Recent estimates suggest these caregivers provide roughly 16 billion hours of unpaid care labor annually in the United States. Caring for people living with AD/ADRD is highly complex and has broad psychological, physical, and economic consequences [1,4,6].

Studies have reported that family-centered care (FCC), which provides holistic care and is planned around the family, is associated with lower PD [20].
