Monthly Variations in Colorectal Cancer Screening Tests Among Federally Qualified Health Center Patients in Missouri: Quality Improvement Project

Monthly Variations in Colorectal Cancer Screening Tests Among Federally Qualified Health Center Patients in Missouri: Quality Improvement Project

Colonoscopy is considered the gold standard of CRC screening since precancerous polyps can be removed at the time of the test, preventing cancer. However, numerous patient and health system barriers to colonoscopies have been identified [6]. Home-based testing is becoming more common, and FIT-DNA use has increased post COVID-19 [7]. The increased FIT-DNA use may reflect patient preference for home-based testing that does not incur being wait-listed for months to get a colonoscopy [8].

The Reliability and Quality of Videos as Guidance for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: Cross-Sectional Study

The Reliability and Quality of Videos as Guidance for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: Cross-Sectional Study

Colonoscopy-related videos were relatively longer, with a median of 288 (IQR 159-477) seconds, followed by gastroscopy-related videos (median 251, IQR 115-530) and capsule endoscopy-related videos (median 213, IQR 110-487). Capsule endoscopy-related videos were significantly less popular (median VPI 4.45, IQR 1.75-15.59) than gastroscopy-related (median VPI 32.47, IQR 7.77-88.20) and colonoscopy-related (median VPI 31.52, IQR 9.69-129.52) videos were.

Think-Aloud Testing of a Companion App for Colonoscopy Examinations: Usability Study

Think-Aloud Testing of a Companion App for Colonoscopy Examinations: Usability Study

However, a colonoscopy is an invasive procedure that demands extensive preparation. This includes taking a laxative, restricting food and liquid intake, and stopping certain medications in the week before the appointment. Research indicates that up to 11% of individuals miss their colonoscopy appointments [4,5], and among those who do attend, many have insufficient bowel preparation, hindering clear colonic visualization [6-12].

Risk Perception, Acceptance, and Trust of Using AI in Gastroenterology Practice in the Asia-Pacific Region: Web-Based Survey Study

Risk Perception, Acceptance, and Trust of Using AI in Gastroenterology Practice in the Asia-Pacific Region: Web-Based Survey Study

A blueprint of a survey that examines contextual responses toward screening colonoscopy with polypectomy in clinical environments is provided. Using our collected data, we attempt to elucidate how risk perception, acceptance, and trust interactions can be modeled and studied. These contributions collectively enhance our understanding of complex factors influencing the integration of AI in medical practice.

Evaluation of an Innovative Colon Capsule Endoscopy Service in Scotland From the Perspective of Patients: Mixed Methods Study

Evaluation of an Innovative Colon Capsule Endoscopy Service in Scotland From the Perspective of Patients: Mixed Methods Study

Optical colonoscopy (OC) for colorectal screening and investigation is considered the gold standard and predominant investigative procedure in cases of suspected colorectal cancer [2]. Although prognosis with OC can improve with early detection [2], patient feedback indicates that this procedure is often uncomfortable for patients within a hospital setting [3,4].

Natural Language Processing for Assessing Quality Indicators in Free-Text Colonoscopy and Pathology Reports: Development and Usability Study

Therefore, quality assurance is an essential part of colonoscopy screening programs, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy/American College of Gastroenterology Task Force on Quality in Endoscopy has published indicators for colonoscopy to improve safety and quality [5].

Can Real-time Computer-Aided Detection Systems Diminish the Risk of Postcolonoscopy Colorectal Cancer?

Can Real-time Computer-Aided Detection Systems Diminish the Risk of Postcolonoscopy Colorectal Cancer?

The adenoma detection rate (ADR) is regarded as an important marker of the quality of inspection in colonoscopy. The identification and removal of adenomatous polyps are considered to be important in CRC prevention [1,2]. More recently, computer-aided detection (CADe) tools that incorporate a 3 D fully convolutional network have been developed to aid with colonoscopy screening for CRC.

Comparative Effectiveness of Enhanced Patient Instructions for Bowel Preparation Before Colonoscopy: Network Meta-analysis of 23 Randomized Controlled Trials

Comparative Effectiveness of Enhanced Patient Instructions for Bowel Preparation Before Colonoscopy: Network Meta-analysis of 23 Randomized Controlled Trials

Colonoscopy has been regarded as the criterion standard approach for early detection and safe removal of colorectal lesions [2-4]. In particular, screening colonoscopy has been associated with decreased colorectal cancer incidence and mortality [2,5]. The quality of bowel preparation (BP) is an important contributor toward successful and safe colonoscopy [6]. However, approximately 18% to 30.5% inadequate BP has been reported in previous studies [7-9].

Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Diminutive Colorectal Polyps in Endoscopic Images: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Diagnostic Test Accuracy

Computer-Aided Diagnosis of Diminutive Colorectal Polyps in Endoscopic Images: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Diagnostic Test Accuracy

Colonoscopy with the identification and removal of these neoplastic polyps is a standard screening method for CRC, which has been proven to reduce cancer-related mortality [2,3]. This is because polyp removal through colonoscopy prevents the development of CRCs by interrupting the adenoma-carcinoma sequence, which is the most reliable stepwise pathogenesis of CRC development [4].
